Leadership Team

Our Leadership Team comprises of five deacons and the minister, who serve the church through engaging with all of church life.

Brian

In addition to being a member of the diaconate, Brian serves the church in various
ways: he is the Designated Person for Safeguarding, assists the administration team
and the children and young people’s groups and helps to lead one of our
Homegroups. You can often find him as a regular part of the church’s welcome team
on a Sunday morning or helping out on the sound desk when required. Outside the
church Brian enjoys time with family, charitable work, travel and photography.

Joan is a member of the Diaconate and a member of the Finance Committee. She co-hosts a community centred drop in Bereavement Support Group; together with involvement in a Lunch Club for local children and their families in the school holidays, under the Transforming Lives for Good programmes (TLG), she has an interest in and shared responsibilities for pastoral care. Away from church she enjoys time with family and friends, reading and regards herself ad a garden 'potterer'.

Sue has been a Deacon for 21 years and a football widow for 51 years! (Husband Philip is a Season ticket Holder for Bradford City and keen on all football.) Sue can be found in the kitchen either doing the teas and coffees or cooking lunches for our T.L.G lunch club. Sue is involved with the Pastoral work, on the cleaning rota and she overseas Safeguarding. In her spare time Sue enjoys walking her dog and spending time with the family especially with their 2 granddaughters.

Alan is a born and bred Mancunian so naturally is a proud Manchester City fan and watches as many matches as possible from the comfort of his front room! He is married to Glenda with 2 very grown-up children and 5 grandchildren. He loves pottering in the garden whilst not doing very much at all and reading a good book!
Alan is passionate about All Age worship and making church time accessible to all. Families feature high on his priority list and at CBC he and Glenda run the children and youth work on a Thursday evening with a fantastic team of helpers.

Carol has been at CBC for 7 years, a church member for 2 and a half years and a Deacon for just over a year. Carol is part of the welcome team, the Pastoral Care team and Carol helps out at Lazers and Sparklers.

We also have a group of dedicated volunteers who lead and help with the various groups and activities we provide for church and community. As well as   serving our community we love and care for each other, offering pastoral care and support.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Welcome

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building for our Sunday Service starting at 10:45am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you will be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a hearing loop for anyone who needs it. The disabled toilet along with a baby changing area are with the other toilet facilities off the main foyer.

Our Service

The service begins at 10.45am, there is a time of sung worship, We typically have 2 or 3 songs lasting approximately 15 minutes.
Our children and young people, leave the service after about 20 minutes for their own activities, these groups are called Energise.

We pray and share together as well as reading from the Bible followed by a talk which stretches and challenges us. Once a month, usually on the second Sunday we have an "All Age" Service. We share Communion monthly, usually on the third Sunday.

Refreshments are served after the service.

We would love to see you, you would be most welcome

What about my children?

We have a great programme lined up for children of all ages:

  • Creche (0 months to 3 years) available
  • Energise 1 (4-10 years)
  • Energise 2 (11-16 years)

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. It will be announced when the children and young people leave for Energise. You will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy.
Energise activities vary depending on the age but there is always a friendly welcome along with bible stories, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.
